R-Seal: Case Study

About this project:

This project is an open-pit gold mine carved into the side of the Pequop Mountains. This projects' goal was to develop the potential of this district, whilst also building a space where the operation to produce gold would be possible.

Challenge:

One of the main challenges for this project was the location. Long Canyon Mine is located at an elevation of 5,800 feet. The area is often susceptible to high winds, and the project had a short amount of time to be built during good weather. There were also many other long-term dangers that had to be addressed due to the project being a mining site.

Solution:

The Insulation supplier recommended R-Seal because of how it is light-weight, has a high R-Value, and can be ordered in custom lengths. Because of these features, R-Seal was the best choice for insulation, and provided easy installation. When R-Seal was used between the framing and the GEM exterior siding, the system allowed for a quick and safe dry-in of the building, despite the area's high winds. Additionally, R-Seal's custom layout, which is provided on each project, made it simple to identify where each piece was to be installed.
